A good paperback or deck of cards is well worth its weight on a rainy day. And don’t forget to bring a small travel Bible, if you have one, as we will be having an impromptu worship service on Sunday and creation talks and devotionals in the evenings around the campfire. 

Rods – Spinning or spin casting rods are the all-around best choice for our area’s walleye, bass, northern and lake trout. Fly rod? Bring it along… use poppers or streamers and you can have a great time with the smallmouth bass. 

Lures – Bring your favorite tackle, but try to keep it compact… a few spoons, plugs, leaders, hooks and sinkers with a few jigs thrown in should do it. For your convenience there is a tackle shop at the Way of the Wilderness where we will be departing from.

Help for Beginners: 

If this is your first canoe trip we will be happy to demonstrate how to paddle a canoe, the proper way to pick it up, and correct loading. We will drill you on safety procedures and what to do if you should capsize… etc. We will also show you how easily the tents are pitched and advise you in the use of camping equipment. Even beginners can have a successful canoe trip. We welcome the opportunity to help you.
